Kenyan citizenship services and application support
Understand Kenyan citizenship routes, dual citizenship declarations, regaining, children born abroad and marriage or residence applications with RENEZ.
The right citizenship page depends on your history. RENEZ EXTREME CONSULTANCY helps you understand the published categories and organise the evidence for the relevant process. Start with the question you need answered, rather than choosing a form because its name sounds familiar.
Which citizenship task are you facing?
You hold Kenyan and foreign citizenship
Explore the dual citizenship declaration page. Disclosure records another nationality; it is different from applying to restore citizenship that was lost.
You previously lost Kenyan citizenship
Explore regaining. The Directorate’s guidance addresses citizens by birth who lost Kenyan citizenship on acquiring another nationality before 27 August 2010. Do not treat a declaration as a substitute for regaining. [S2]
Your child was born abroad
Begin with the child’s birth record and the Kenyan parent’s citizenship history at the child’s birth. Documentation of citizenship by birth and an application for registration are different issues.
You are a foreign spouse or lawful resident
Read the marriage or lawful-residence page. Residence status, elapsed time and the applicable conditions must be checked; a relationship or a long stay alone is insufficient.
What we help you prepare
We can help create a document inventory, organise identity and name-change evidence, explain official forms and record unresolved questions. You approve the facts in an application. Any required sworn statement, certification or legal advice must come from an appropriately qualified person.
Other citizenship matters
Widows and widowers, adopted children and other statutory categories require their own requirements. Renunciation is a consequential nationality decision, not an account-cleanup task. Ask for a scope assessment and qualified advice rather than relying on a generic website checklist. The official citizenship information pack lists these categories. [S5]
Frequently asked questions
Is permanent residence the same as citizenship?
No. These are distinct statuses. Read the [permanent residence page](/immigration/permanent-residence/) if your goal is residence rather than a citizenship application.
Can you decide whether I am Kenyan?
We can help organise the question and supporting records. The competent authority and, where needed, qualified legal advisers address the legal status.
Note: General guidance does not establish citizenship, waive requirements or replace an official decision.
