Support to regain Kenyan citizenship

Prepare to regain Kenyan citizenship with RENEZ. Understand the published route, organise former Kenyan and foreign citizenship evidence, and plan next steps.

For many Kenyans abroad, restoring a documented Kenyan connection is deeply personal. RENEZ EXTREME CONSULTANCY provides practical support to organise your records and prepare for the official regaining process. We begin with your citizenship history and explain what must be clarified before filing.

Who should explore regaining?

The Directorate describes the route for a person who was Kenyan by birth and lost Kenyan citizenship because they acquired another country’s citizenship before 27 August 2010. Someone who voluntarily renounced citizenship or has a different history should seek a specific assessment rather than assume that this route applies. [S2]

Check citizenship before applying for identity documents

The Directorate warns those who lost citizenship not to apply for a Kenyan ID or passport until citizenship has been regained. Put the restoration question first and plan passport or identity-document steps afterwards. [S2]

Evidence and Form 1

The eFNS regaining page lists printed Form 1, two passport photographs, Kenyan ID and passport copies, the foreign passport and citizenship certificate, and a police-clearance copy. The citizenship checklist additionally identifies the birth certificate and attestation of the form. The two lists are not identical; confirm the full current checklist with the receiving authority or mission. [S6, S4]

Build a reliable chronology

Place the foreign naturalisation date alongside your former Kenyan records. Explain any gaps, damaged documents, spelling differences or previous applications in a separate working note. We help organise that note and identify the records that may need replacement or verification. We cannot manufacture missing evidence or decide whether an alternative document will be accepted.

Originals, certification and foreign documents

Before commissioning copies or sending originals, confirm exactly what the receiving office requires. A document issued abroad may need certification or translation under that office’s procedure. Agree who will hold any original and how it will be returned. A first enquiry should never require you to send every sensitive record without a reason.

The preparation journey

First, describe your history and goal. Next, agree the consultancy scope and create a document inventory. Resolve factual discrepancies and obtain the current official instructions. Review the prepared form and complete any required attestation. Follow the official filing, payment and presentation instructions, retaining receipts and reference numbers. Any follow-up support should have a defined scope; government consideration remains independent.

Budget and practical planning

Our fee pays for the agreed support. Official processing and issuance charges are separate. Do not book non-refundable travel on the assumption that a consultancy can control the completion date. Build your plan around the outstanding records, the receiving mission or office and the later document steps you may need.

Frequently asked questions

Is regaining the same as renewing my passport?

No. Regaining addresses citizenship that was lost; passport replacement is a separate document process.

Can I begin from overseas?

The official eFNS guidance provides for presenting application printouts at immigration headquarters or Kenyan missions abroad. Ask your mission about current procedures. [S6]

What if I have no old Kenyan passport?

Start with an inventory of what you do hold. We help formulate the missing-evidence question for the authority; we cannot promise that one substitute will work for every case.

Will using RENEZ make approval certain?

No. We can help organise and prepare the file, but the government controls the application outcome.

Include your foreign naturalisation date, country of residence, former Kenyan documents and any previous citizenship application.
